The Makeup Case

Sorry for the long time no update but it's been a long two months for me. In the past two months I've been in makeup artistry school learning and practicing makeup, and then I had two weeks to let my face heal from the whole ordeal. I learned much in school and I'll probably end up sharing them randomly with you guys but in the mean time I will talk about something that drove me nuts during my time in school. Skin.

Now everyone knows that glowing beautiful skin is a sign of good health, and who wouldn't want to be in good health? It's also the canvas you work on when doing makeup and trust me when I say it's a LOT easier (Faster too) to do someone with nicer skin's makeup then it is doing someone who has, well, not so nice skin.

The caring and protecting

First thing is first, taking care of the skin properly is a major factor in having nice skin! Drinking lots of water keeps it hydrated and taking your vitamins (Especially omega-3) really does help (So does eating healthy, lots of fruits and vegetables). You'll notice that the Japanese tend to have really nice skin and that is mainly because fish is such a big part of their diet (lotsss of omega there!). Antioxidants are always good for the body as well, try eating more avocado, blueberries, and pomegranate or use an avocado mask. Along with eating well you have to care for the rest of your body as well, good food and hydration only go so far if you're staying up til 4 am sitting on the couch watching re-runs of your fav. show! Get your beauty sleep, there is a reason it's called that! Working out also helps you sweat out those nasty toxins in your body that may be part of the cause of bad skin. Remember to wash your face day and night and make sure it's clean! There was one girl I had to do makeup for who still had mascara left on from the day before! If you feel like you're not cleaning well enough use makeup remover first to remove all your makeup before washing your face with a cleanser. Of course, one VERY important step in caring for your skin is wearing sunscreen!! My boyfriend used to not wear sunscreen and his skin was already bad to begin with and after a trip to Vietnam he learned his lesson. Preferably one that is at LEAST SPF 30 with UVB and UVA protection (I recommend Neutrogena Ultra sheer dry touch sunscreen in SPF 55 or 100). Don't forget your lips and eyes when you're protecting your skin from the sun, use a lip balm and an eye cream that contain SPF!

The products

Okay, if you do all that great then you are a good step closer to having wonderful skin! Now come the products; along with having well hydrated skin, please exfoliate your skin even if it's a day or two away from a big night out and you're going to get your makeup done professionally. I can't tell you the countless times when I had to do some ones makeup and they had flakey skin (Not to mention my bad in forgetting and having flakey skin for people to work on)! If you have oily skin you can get away with exfoliating 1-3 times a week, for drier skin try to limit yourself to once or twice a week. There is nothing you can do about flakey skin don't try to cover it more as it will just look cakey, maybe add a bit more moisturizer in that area but for the love of god, don't over do the makeup! I have heard of MUFE HD elixer which I would love to try out if it weren't for the fact it's Sephora exclusive and online only *Grumble*.

Now, it's important to choose a moisturizer that is good for your skin type, a majority of the population has combination skin (Oily t-zone, dry everywhere else) and in major cases one may require two different products to control this problem. Otherwise there are a good amount of creams out there for you to pick. Remember to tone your face as well as this helps even out the pH of your skin which should be at about 5-5.6. If you find that you are extremely dry try a hydrating mask (Dior Hydraction has a nice one, but avocado mask is good too!), if you have lots of acne, blackheads, or really oily skin try a clay mask about once or twice a week.

Pre-makeup

Okay now you know about the protecting and caring for your skin, now there is a step I understand many women skip when putting makeup on and it's absolutely horrible! It's called primer people! Now, not only does primer make your makeup last longer it also protects your skin from the actual makeup itself which can clog your pores! Not to mention the dirt and grime that settles onto your face throughout the day!

If all else fails...

If you find that you have really bad acne that doesn't seem to go away perhaps it's time to see your derm about it, for some people it's genetic/hormonal. If you're on the pill it's a good to take it at the same time everyday to help prevent your hormones from fluctuating randomly. And that is all I have to say for today. Take good care of your skin. It's a good indicator or how fast you're aging. Now back to cleaning the house before I go biking.

Yeah, I understand I've been away for a while but I have some perfectly reasonable excuses.

a) I'm going to makeup artistry school now, so I've been busy with that*Throws confetti*

b) I'm one of those damn procrastinators. (Like, hardcore yo!)

c) My MAC (not the cosmetics, the computer.) has no SD card slot for my cameras memory stick so I have to load any pictures on my moms camera and send to me. (Which being the lazy bum I am, I hate doing)

Pictures will be up ASAP (After I'm done cleaning my house). They're taken and everything, just need editing and what not.

Anyway, today (By request) I'll be doing a review on the new Style Warriors collection. I was able to stop by the MAC counters this Friday for a Foward Fashion event and pick up some Style Warriors stuff.

So, this is a pretty warm collection but it is approaching summer so bronzed skin and warm colours are going to be everywhere (plus it's workable for you cool toned ladies and gentlemen). Overall the entire collection (I believe) had a little something for everyone, even if you weren't interested it's definitely a collection to look at.

Lipsticks:

I bought all four lipsticks because being a lippie girl, I felt I needed them. But honestly for people that aren't obsessed like me, you really don't need them all.

-Brave new bronze is a nice everyday kind of pink neutral colour, if you're more for the nude everyday look though this is definitely a must see for you!

-Sunsational is one of those colours that barely shows up, but layered with another lipstick to lighten it or just to add a little something to it. Anyone can use this colour pretty much, but is it necessary? Totally not. It's like Bubbles from Sugarsweet, yeah it's great with other lipsticks...but by itself? Not so much.

-Purplerite was one of those colours that (From promotional pictures) looked like a must have for me but when I saw it in real life...well it wasn't what I expected. I had imagined a beautiful bright true grape purple but when I saw the pink in it I wasn't too happy. For most people this would be a wonderful shade (But I'm always looking for crazy colours) as the pink makes it more wearable. To me it is like a warmer, slightly more violet, lavender whip. Definitely check this one out if you're looking for a purple lipstick that doesn't scream "PURPLE"!

-Tribalist, Originally I thought this was NOT going to be on my buy list but as soon as it went on, it was love. Amplified cremes are one of my favorite textures from MAC lipsticks, moisturizing and doesn't feather like cremesheens. This is similar to Hang up cremesheen maybe a tad bit more plum.

Lipglasses:

I wasn't impressed by these, honestly I think most (If not all) are a PASS.

-Liberated and Gold rebel are similar to Goldy Rocks and Utterly posh dazzleglasses. These two lipglasses lack pigmentation and over a light lipstick might okay but by themselves are useless. Liberated is more yellow then Goldy Rocks, Gold Rebel is less orange and more brown then Utterly posh (In the tubes). Overall though, I don't suggest getting these ones...I'm thinking about returning or swapping them away.

-Style Warriors is a brown colour which I think would be WONDERFUL over a red or bright plum, but by itself...looks...gross.

-Fierce and Fab I have nothing to say about, but I do have a suggestion to MAC. Stop releasing colours like this, it's getting old.

Lustre Drops:

Okay so these caught my attention, for the price tag are they worth it? No, but they are nice. These are used to mix with your foundation to create that nice dewy look (Hint: don't mix with Studio Sculpt or any really matte foundation or you'll be using A LOT of this stuff). You can also use these as a highlighter or liquid bronzer/blush. The difference is mainly the shades.

-Bronze Hero I don't suggest anyone lighter then NC/NW 40 use (Even then use VERY little) as it is so pigmented! When I tried it on myself (Nc 25/30) it turned a very VERY deep orangey brown (Don't even use it as a bronzer!).

-Sunrush was THE colour for me, as it is just right not to dark and not to light, perfect for that dewy look. It's a nice yellow gold, this particular shade can be used as a highlighter for darker skin tones (NC/NW40+) as well.

-Pink Rebel was a tad bit light and is a light pink with gold shimmer, I'm thinking it would be good for that dewy look on lighter skintones (NC/NW15 and lower) and nice for people from NC/NW20-35 as a highlighter.

Eyeshadows:

I'll just do a quick run down of the shadows.

Night maneuvers: Texture was not great (Chalky), turned out a charcoal brown on me.

Vibrant grape: Like Nocturnelle without all the shimmer, lighter, and more pink

Soft Force: More gold, lighter version of Femme Fi

Bright Future: Deeper, more yellow Going Bananas. Or Shimmery Chrome Yellow (Maybe slightly brighter) but it's definitely worth a look. I think out of all the shadows this one is the most desirable.

Blushes:

Eversun: For me this shade isn't that great as it's a tad bit orange, but I can imagine it looking beautiful with neutral eyes and nude lips, or maybe a coral lip and nice smoldering (warm) eyes. This one's a repromote.

On a mission: Now, I'm a plum coloured junkie. Everything plum colour when it comes to makeup is a must have and this is no exception. The pigmentation in these blushes are wonderful and the colour is like a warm medium plum. I can imagine this looking beautiful in the fall paired with a nice medium smokey eye.

Skinsheens:

Okay, since I only bought one shade (Medium dark) because, well I don't really need this, I will just do a review on the product itself. Basically this product gives you the illusion of a tan for a few days, it doesn't gradually build a tan or anything but rather just makeup for the body. The mouse is easy to apply and is build able to achieve your desired intensity. The application is rather easy, all you need to do is spread it evenly and it really doesn't streak (OR STINK!). I can understand when MAC repromotes this so often, if you haven't tried this (and you love a nice tan without the commitment) check this one out!

Everything else:

Everything else didn't really catch my attention, the refined golden bronzer was nice as it wasn't orange like the other one released (What was it? I can't remember the name!) but being perm like everything else that I didn't mention I didn't really bother.

Sorry for the longtime no post~ School is over... it is time to find a second job and move my butt to make some money.. (SO BROKE GAH! *cry*) Anyways, this weekend was *Otafest*, which is an anime (Japanese animation) convention~ I love going every year (I'm such a loser xD~). This year I didn't have a costume (*sad*) but I accompanied by good friend Steve, who did dress up =), Sean, and a whole bunch of other people who I ran into there.. Also, I've started watching Gossip Girl and holy cow am I in love with their fashion~ It's soooo wonderful!!!! I am so inspired!!! Too bad I have no money to shop T__T hahah This show makes me want to fill my closet with more stuff~.... Bad, bad... Therefore... I am in a *very* gossip girl mood with my fashion sense at the moment hahah~ I LOOOOOOOOVE Blair's style! Oh man.. so cute!!! And now moving on.. Okay since a lot of collection info leaked out I don't need to tell you ladies about it (psst go to specktra.net if you haven't already!). That, and I'm breaking out so no new looks, reviews will come later when I can actually USE products on my face so for now I shall do a little show and tell. (PS. I went to a MAC studio talk so I'll tell you ladies about it and even scan my notes a little later).

Weeeeee so lets start. No way I am taking close ups tonight, so maybe tomorrow JUSTTT MAYBE.

For those of you wondering I have:

Beauty on a Budget!

Hello everyone!
Long time no post~
I apologize for the lack of posting! School is really stressing me out!!
I recently just did a midterm worth 50% of my mark... and it went so horribly!!
UGGHHhh... Also.. I just got really sick T_T I've lost my voice~ and yesterday was sick in bed all day..
Putting that aside, being the poor student I am, I've been looking into some wonderful drugstore finds that won't the butt of your wallet!
In all honestly.. it's been really hard >_<>

ECOTOOLS!!!
Can I say "WOW"?? Now, I'm always one for really good quality brushes... I can't stand brushes that shed, are scratchy, etc!! Now, I've heard many people rave about this line of brushes but I've never been able to find it here.. BUT~ on my recent trip to Walmart.. I found them and of course I HAD to try them!! The prices of them were amazingly cheap and the quality of them are just beautiful!! They only had a limited selection of brushes, and I ended up buying the powder ($8 CAD), blush ($7 CAD), and eye shader ($4) brushes. I intend to go back for the foundation brush and also try to find other places that possibly could sell them.. I want the kabuki brush also... These brushes are amazingly soft and apply product like a dream~ Also, these brushes are environmentally friendly. The hairs are 100% synthetic (no animal hair!!!), the handles are made of bamboo, and the metal part of the brush is made of recycled aluminum. I definitely recommend these brushes to everyone, they are wonderful!

Next up L'Oreal's Voluminous Waterproof Mascara.
Now... anyone who knows me knows that I am the biggest mascara freak in the world AND I am also THE pickiest person in the world when it comes to mascaras. ie. If it doesn't hold my curl, it's an instant fail and I will toss that mascara right away xD Now, I've tried everything from high end mascaras (Dior, YSL, Chanel, etc) to drugstore mascaras(Cover Girl, Maybelline, Rimmel, etc) and I still haven't found anything I really *love* yet haha... So for me to actually somewhat like this mascara is a miracle. Now, I've tried this in both the waterproof and non-waterproof versions and found the difference is really big =/ the waterproof version is the definite winner!! It holds my curl, does a decent job of lengthening & volumizing, doesn't (really) clump and doesn't smudge or flake on me. Saying that, it would never be a mascara I would wear out to a party or something, this mascara is for anyone who likes the "natural" look because even though it promises lots of volume, it's not extremely volumizing. Also, if you apply too many coats, it does tend to clump, so apply with a light hand... I only use this for the daytime because it gives me the "I naturally have awesome lashes" look (hahah xD) but still doesn't look extremely dramatic. Anyone who wants a good everyday mascara that has a decent price, I'd definitely recommend this.

Wet 'n Wild Silk Finish Blush Compact in All Over Shimmer
Now, this one is a highlighter (not really a blush...). It is extremely wonderful~ I don't quite remember the price but I think it was around $5 CAD? Very cheap and works wonderfully! Just be sure to apply with a light hand or else you will end up looking like a disco ball!! The only thing is that the packaging is okay... I have yet to drop it or anything so I am not quite sure of the durability of it =X... also, the little brush that comes with it is completely poo... I just threw it away when I got it (so scratchy and applies wayyy too much product!). I'd recommend using your own brush for applying this =P! You can use this to highlights your cheeks or highlight your brow bone and it fits most skintones (it's kinda a general light beige/pinkish shimmer)~ it's very versatile! If you are new to highlighters and want to give one a try that won't kick your wallet, I'd definitely suggest this one :)

Carmex Lip Balm
I'm pretty picky about my lip balms too (gosh, what am I not picky with >_<) but this one is definitely my favourite! I've tried a lot of lip balms in my day... and I really feel like this one does the job! Currently I own the one in the jar.. Now this one DOES have a really funky smell but it does disappear once you put it on.. but if you're really sensitive to smells, I'd avoid this! Also, one you put it on, it feels, somehow, really minty O_o.. odd, but I love it! haha this lip balm's smell reminds me a lot of the smell and texture of the famous Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Cream (which smells like poo.. ugh!!) except a lot cheaper. It only cost me $2 CAD!!

Well that's all for now!! I wish I could write a more detailed post with more items.. but I really need to search more!!! .. and I really have to get going on my homework xD!!
I hope this has helped some people who are looking for good products but are on a budget~

Product Review: Lady Dior Charm

I wanted to love this product, I honestly did. When I first laid eyes on the promotional pictures I fell in love, but it just went downhill from there. Compared to all the previous (all metal) charms this seems lacking that certain WOW factor that made me buy all the rest. Something that the previous "charm" (the Night Diamond Palette) also lacked. To be honest the packaging is nice, but it's not THAT nice and the cloth they used seems just a little, how do I put this, crappy. It is however fairly waited for a key chain/purse charm (Plus to me, minus for others) and I can't really imagine using it for that purpose, I currently just use it as a compact.

Okay now to the colours, I believe Sephora has one that is both pinks but this one has a deep berry colour and a pinkish highlighter. Not that I hate the colours but once again like the packaging it is so-so, nothing special. Actually I'm not that big a fan as the berry colour is REALLY SHEER! You're probably thinking, it can't be THAT sheer, but honestly it is. I have to put on layers upon layers just for it to have a slight tint of colour on me (NC30).

I have heard from my SA's that Dior will be releasing a "Jewel" for the summer charm this year though, which has me a little excited but I have learned to be skeptical. Honestly Dior hasn't been catching my eye lately, the colours are getting bland and are always the same. The Dior iridescent eyeshadows are wayyy to shimmery and too little pigmentation IMO (Think of a reflection). Dior, honestly I loved you. I've spend over 1500 on your cosmetics, but please if you don't come out with good charms again and make them with quality ... I will leave you.

Product Review: Juicy Loves Sephora Hard Train case

Juicy Loves Sephora Hard Train Case

There may come a time (Or many times) when there will be a very pretty (And expensive) something that maybe completely useless to you. I'm sure many people have seen this pretty little traincase on the Sephora website (Used to run for $348 USD now on sale for $261 USD).

Now, I'll be honest. This product was not what I expected it to be, I've heard it was small but it's actually a fairly decent size for travel (10 x 6 x 8.5). It's a bit heavy it's not that big a deal. What did bother me about this train case was the quality though, I had expected it to be VERY high quality for the price ($355 CAD?!), the outside is covered with plastic and though there is fabric underneath the coating it's shiny and feels a bit cheap (Even the "leather"). The inside is quilted but it's just cloth, nothing special. There is one pocket in the back and 4 elastic straps on the sides, good for foundations and such. On the heart shaped mirror is printed "I am the fairest..." and the outside has the Juicy couture logo printed on the front.

Now I know a big factor for this economy is the price, is this product worth the price? Hells no! Honestly for this price I could have gone to MAC, bought myself a nice carry all case (with lots of dividers and stuff) and still have almost 100 bucks left in my pocket (This was a gift from my hunny for our anniversary though <3).>

ONE THING ABOUT THIS TRAINCASE, I spent half an hour trying to figure out how to open it and I've noticed one or two reviews on Sephora saying that it was "broken" and I'll tell you now it's not, nor is it crappy quality, the lock is actually one of the better qualitys and if you push the left side nob that has no use to the right while the case is unlocked it will pop open no problem. Yeah, I felt pretty stupid too.

SOME MAKE-UP NEWS! (Mainly MAC.)

Okay, sorry to any readers that may have been saying WTF for our disappearance lately! School has pretty much taken over our lives so we've been busy but I'm going to try to keep this up as a daily thing (At least for the next week). Sadly at the moment I can't show you any looks/hauls/ideas a tips since I'm still at school waiting for the boy >_<.

I'm planning to do this as a once a week thing, just as a quick overview of some makeup news that may be of interest. Including new releases for various different brands (and maybe links to the details if I don't plan on covering them), any trends for the season stuff like that.

Okay, so if you keep up with the makeup world you would know that lately there has been a little big of a craze over lavender lips. Personally I love this trend, sadly my lips are so pigmented that lavender lipstick just looks pink on me! I love how it looks on Lady Gaga who was recently spotted sporting a lovely shade of lavender.

I love it! But not the outfit, actually I'm not a fan of many Gaga outfits. Different is one thing, but just plain ugly is another. What are your views on this new trend? Love it or hate it? Hello Kitty for MAC was officially released yesterday in stores I went early in the morning to pick up a decent little haul (Which I will most likely review later tonight or tomorrow.) many people plan on skipping this collection due to the "Childish theme" however the colours are actually wonderful and the packaging is of good quality so it's definitely worth a good look!

If you're a fan of the mineralize line MAC offers you may be interested to know of Grand Duos collection (Due March 12th) featuring mineralize blush duos!

The next big upcoming MAC collection is Sugar Sweet (Due March 19th) featuring some previous LE and D/C products, and triple layered lipglasses! I'm really looking forward to seeing the new shadesticks, they look like they'll be wonderful! The whole collection (Okay, MOST of the collection) is focused on cute dessert inspired names like Dear Cupcake e/s! I've been told by my MA's that the triple layered lipglasses have the same feel and consistancy of the new Cremesheen glasses though the "different densities" that MAC claims may not be as true as we would like. The collection sure looks delicious though (Not the model, what was MAC THINKING?!)!

It's a little early to talk about summer collections but if you keep up with Temptalia you would know that during June there will be a collection called Naked Honey (Due June 11th) featuring honey scented body products, 3 eyeshadows, 3 lipglasses, 2 hi-light powders, and 2 creations. Overall the collection is very neutral and clean, at the moment I am craving "She's a star" L/g which is one of the gorgeous shades being released in this collection.

FOTD: Satellite Dreams and... Chrome yellow?!

Hello hello m'dears how are you this pleasant Saturday afternoon? Alright so I was playing makeup today (big surprise that is) so I decided to do a FOTD (Finally right?!) and this is a look I wore awhile ago but did today just for you, you may notice it's a little uneven and I have a perfect excuse for that, my have been a little wonky for the past few days so the crease isn't were it normally is (Plus I have an extra crease on both eyes O_O). I hope it isn't THAT noticeable, but I like this look because the colours aren't what people normally expect and you can always replace the yellow with a gold colour (MAC Gorgeous Gold E/S) or the purple with a teal colour (MAC Electric Eel E/S)

Eyes: UDPP, MAC Satellite Dreams E/S, MAC Chrome yellow E/S (If you find this too intense go for Gorgeous Gold E/S) , Diorshow Iconic
Cheeks: MAC Pinch me blush
Lips: MAC Freckletone L/S, MAC Pink Lemonade L/G

Eyes: Alright plain and simple UDPP and then Chrome yellow on the inner lid don't go past it or you'll have some ugly colour between your purple and yellow. Satellite dreams for the rest (Up to the crease only), blend a little bit between the two and following the top lid do the same on the lower lid, then add mascara and you're done for the eyes. Easy, no?
Cheeks: Add pinch me blush
Lips: I covered my lips with concealer first since it was stained from the red lipstick I was wearing, added Freckletone over top and then added Pink Lemonade using a lipbrush.

And you're done! Fast and easy.

And look Teal (MAC Cool Heat LE E/S) and Hot pink (MAC Girl about town L/S + Dior highshine addict Nude Silhouette L/S!)

Getting the most bang out of your buck

Alright we all know that the economy is bad at the moment and Christmas is around the corner s we want to save as much as we can, personally I should follow my own advice as I'm a HUGE makeup junkie (trying to save for a major brush, hello kitty, and MAC pro haul though). Along my addiction I learned that there are a few things that we can do to save, every little bit counts....really.

Mascaras: Alright we all know that there are bacteria and stuff unless you use disposable mascara wands or a mascara brush, but some people tend to complain about their mascaras drying out. Well one thing I also noticed is that many women tend to try to get more product on the brush by pumping it in and out of the bottle, and this traps air in the mascara causing it to dry out faster! Instead when you want more mascara SWIRL! this way you get your mascara on the brush, get product you wouldn't normally from pumping it, and it doesn't dry out as fast!

Colours: Alright, I have like 20 red lipsticks but to be honest does anyone really NEED that many? This applies to eye shadows and blushes as well! If you're looking for more shades try drugstore brands, they're cheaper, or just try mixing colours you have now! Like pinks with browns and you get a nice rose colour! Restrain yourself from buying dupes of colours you have, honestly you don't need it.

Multi-purpose: Alright we hear about multi-purpose makeup all the time now, but it cost more then just buying the separate pieces sometimes (ie: NARS the multiple) one lipstick could do everything they do, and maybe more! Viva Glam V doubles as a nice blush, and blush works on the eyes for a nice effect as well! Try to find more uses for your makeup, it helps you save yourself from buying ANOTHER blush.

Do your research: I can't stress this one enough, there have been multiple times I haven't checked ratings bought something and completely regretted it. The makeup alley is a good place to start (Google it, I'm a little lost on the web url right now)

Return what doesn't work: Okay I'm not to like returning but sometimes you have to do what you have to do. Here are a few little excuses for you if you're having a little trouble.
-Just be honest, places like MAC and Sephora are nice about returns.
- It caused an allergic reaction
- It irritated my skin/eyes/lips
- The smell is much to strong!

Make your own tinted moisturizer: tinted moisturizer is expensive! So just make you own, it's only a blend of moisturizer and liquid foundation!

BTW: Starbucks napkins, make great blotting papers!

Budget: Alright this one is common sense, can you really afford to buy it right now without giving up food, and other necessities of life? Should you buy it at all? Do you need it? Why do I want it? Will I feel guilty after wards? On an interesting note lipstick sales go up when the economy goes down. Alright so next time you do some shopping try to consider these things, and if that fails try to think about a poor little Ethiopian girl who doesn't even have food while you're staring at that eyeshadow.

Wearing the red lipstick

Alright, I'm sure many of us have been through some red troubles. Me personally, I took a long time to get my technique down so I am sharing with you:

1. Choosing your red: Depends on what you like really and what compliments your skin tone. BUT if you're a coffee drinker like me and have yellow teeth (Sigh, one day pearly whites I'll see you again) avoid yellow, coral, orange based reds they will only make the yellowness more noticeable! Instead choose pink and blue based reds.

2. You have to have smooth well exfoliated lips and moisturized (Especially if you're going matte!). To exfoliate try some olive oil and sugar, works and your lips taste yummy after wards (Or you can just go buy a LIP exfoliate). Now moisturize your lips with a chap stick (This entire process if easier if you moisturize your lips regularly, drink lots of water, and exfoliate about once a week)

3. Alright time to line, you can pick something either much darker then your desired lipstick, slightly darker, or colourless. I use colourless (benefit d'finer d'liner, Too faced borderline, Urban decay lip liner in clear), if you want to make your lips a little more plump looking line right outside the lip line, if you want more of your natural lip shape line on or a little below your lip line. You can either use a lip primer next or you can use your lip liner to fill in your lips.

4. Now your lips are all ready for your red, you have the choice of powdering now (I don't) because for some people it helps the lasting power. Apply the red lipstick (my favorite at the moment is MAC Lady Bug) either from the tube (which I ALWAYS DO) or using a lip brush, lip brush tends to tone down the colour no matter how many layers you put and from the tube is more intense and true to the colour you see in the tube. Avoid going out of the line because red does stain skin more noticeably but if you do don't fret, wipe it off and keep going I'll tell you how to fix it in a bit. Add setting powder on top to make it matte if you like.

5. Alright now your lips are looking smoking (Except maybe a stain or two) but even the best of us have a hard time getting that perfectly lined and even red lips we see in photographs. And here is the secret, CONCEALER! Take a concealer brush and line the outside of your smoking hot red lips with concealer and blend it outwards away from the lips but the lipline around the lips should be close to perfection (if it isn't perfect already). Keep your lipstick with you because red does tend to fade and you're set to go!

It's only Tuesday?! Oh god, this is going to be a long week... How are you holding up?

Who has the coolest caddy hat (with lace racing stripes!) in the land? I do!

Hiya ladies (And gentlemen)! How are you all today? Anyways it's been awhile I know but please bear with us, it's finals in about 2 weeks and I still have exams and such in my classes. So today's face of the day is a look I find I get the most compliments from, it's fast and easy but it definitely gets noticed.This one is simple, but it takes a bit of practice. (Oh man I'm pale as a ghost and my blush still never shows up!)

Eyes: Bobbi Brown Gel Eyeliner in Black ink, 209 brush, Diorshow Blackout, Diorshow brow, Guerlain Kohl powder in black
Lips: Your drop dead gorgeous red gloss or lipstick =) (First photo is cult of cherry + russian red lipglasses, second is So Scarlet lipstick)
Cheeks: MAC breath of plum blush (Or any sheertone really)

Possible dupes:
Guerlain Kohl powder: MAC Technakohl in Graphblack
Bobbi Brown Gel Eyeliner: MAC Fluidline in Black Track

Eyes: This requires precision, using the 209 MAC brush I usually line the upper lash line first no flicks at the end no nothing that comes later. Then I line the lower lash line and following the lower lash line flick out the end and extend a little bit towards the tip of your eyebrows. For the inner corner follow the upper lash line (pick a point on the nose that seems reasonable and try to make both eyes point to that point) and connect to the lower lash line. Add kohl liner to waterline for that extra drama, gel your brows, add mascara and you're done! Easier said then done so keep some makeup remover close by!
Blush: Make those apples (Of your cheek of course) look delicious by dusting a bit of light blush on.
Lips: I will be doing a red lips tutorial or something a little later but for now all you need to know is, line and fill.

Oh I know it's been awhile and I deeply apologize for that, when we started this blog I promised myself I'd try hard to keep it a regular thing (And that is NOT happening right now). *Sigh* if only school wasn't so stressful... Anyways I haven't been doing any makeup lately so this is a look for awhile back of which I still remember the products used (YAY!) I feel like I'm kind of cheating but...really I need a break.
You'll notice I rarely to never take close up pictures of my eye, this is mainly due to my camera. I will when I get my Canon Rebel XSI (Oh why must you cost so damn much you gorgeous hunk of metal?!)

Okay this is going to be quick and easy, it's one of my fast but dramatic looks.

Eyes: Udpp all over lid. Using 239 apply Swimming e/s from the crease down, using same brush on inner lid apply a light amount of Goldmine e/s, middle lid apply Juxt e/s, and outer lid apply a LITTLE BIT of the black e/s, blend with 217 brush and apply Nylon from crease up and blend some more. Little bit of Juxt lining the outer lower lid, throw on a bit of mascara and you're done the eyes.
Cheeks: Blooming blush of course.
Lips: Prep +Prime lips, D'finer d'liner outlining the lips and DAB on So Scarlet lightly (If you go from tube like I do) apply a little bit of Diorkiss Snow Cherry on top and you're good to go.

Once again I'm so sorry about not posting More often, I really will try as I have a few ideas to work from I just need to get them down. Stay gorgeous!

So today, I was really bored and whipped out my purple liquid eye shadow from Anna Sui..
It's a gorgeous purple and can be either really sheer or really intense depending on how you apply it.... which brings me to my FOTD!

Face:
- Conceal spots/scars using MAC Select Moisturecover Concealer (NC20)
- Conceal undereyes with Biotherm Forget It! Concealer (10)
- Highlight around the eyes and on the bridge of your nose with The Body Shop Lightening Touch (03)
- Dust Physician's Formula Multi-colored Powder Palette (Light Bronzer) on the hollows on your cheeks and long your chin up to the forehead area
- Set everything with Physician's Formula Mineral Wear Talc-free Pressed Power (Translucent)

Eyes:
Firstttt!! Prime your eyes with Too Faced Shadow Insurance~
All Over the Lid & Inner Lower Lashline: MAC Tempting Eyes Quad (Next to Nothing)
Outer Corner & Outer Lower Lashline: Anna Sui Liquid Eye Color (201)
Liner: MAC Paint Pot (Blackground) using an smudge brush and smudge the liner
Brows: Maybelline Define-a-brow (Medium Brown), then set with Anastasia Brow Gel (Clear)
Lashes: First put on the Kiss Me Heroine Make Volume & Curl Mascara (Black) (mind you this isn't the same as the Kiss Me mascara that "tubes" your lashes, this is a drugstore brand from Japan that is totally different!) on the upper lashes, then put Clinique Lash Power Mascara (Black Onyx) on the lower lashes (this stuff NEVER smudges!! *loves*)

Lips:
- Put Biotherm Nutrisource Levres Lip Balm on to moisturize those chapped lips!!
- Leave it on for about 10 minutes so that it absorbs into your lips.
- Apply Dior Addict High Shine Lipstick (624 Cranberry Croquette)

and DONE~

Dior Make Up Workshop!

Hello everyone!

Sorry for no update in a while, these few weeks are getting really horrible (midterms, presentations, in-class written exams, and essays!!! I think my head is going to explode..).
In midst of this tornado of school work, Brenda & I attended a Dior Make Up Workshop! And what a cool experience... I would recommend anyone who wants to learn about make up & skin care basics to definitely try to find one of these to go to (ask your closest MA about it!). Basically, Brenda was told by her MA at Dior about this make up class and I tagged along =P It was a class from 4pm - 6pm in the Bay upstairs in a private meeting room. I wasn't quite sure about a purchase or deposit for this class (we didn't pay a deposit for this one =/), but all we did was purchase one product each and we got a cool little gift (which included a little make up bag with Capture Totale eye cream, a small sample bottle of J'adore, and a small sample of Dior Addict gloss)!

When we entered the room, there was a whole bunch of tables to sit at with a bunch of Dior testers sitting there waiting for us to try them! Also, a few pages of face charts per each person to write down what was used. They also had some nice wraps, coffee, tea, water and COOKIES (YUM!), how sweet~!! We had to wait for a few late people so we did indulge a bit in those free snacks.. (Come on! How can one deny free food?!??!)... When we actually got started, the "teacher"(Dior Rep. for Canada) basically outlined that she was going to go through: the importance of skin care, an easy, natural, everyday make up look, make up on the go, and how to make your make up more dramatic (if needed/wanted). Also, at each table was a Dior MA to help out with choosing colors and make up application. The teacher was extremely nice and answered all our questions with much detail, I wasn't really fond of the MA at our make up table though (she ignored me for the most part... hopefully you guys get a much more helpful one than I did...). I'll outline each section of the workshop and the wonderful tips we picked up!

Skincare:
Some we already knew, some we didn't! So here are the tips!

Always, always, ALWAYS wash your face with a good cleanser at the end of the day, even if you don't have make up on! Pollution and gunk from the air clog your pores during the day (ESPECIALLY if you live in the city, like us!!). For this demo, she used the Cleansing Gelee (which is good for oily/combo skin). For drier skin, the Cleansing Milk is suggested.
Toner is your best friend! Toner is like the conditioner to your shampoo, it rebalances the skin and also removes anything you missed with your cleanser. Also, if you find yourself to have oily skin, instead of washing your face in the morning (making sure you absolutely did wash your face the night before!) just put on your toner then follow up as regular with your serum(optional), and moisturizer. All products used in this part were from the HydrAction line.
When using serum or moisturizer, ONLY A PEA SIZED AMOUNT IS NEEDED (or one pump in terms of the serum or any other ones that contain pump packaging)! You just rub it between your finger tips and dab 3 spots: neck, cheeks, and your forehead. For the neck section, rub the moisturizer in a downwards motion. For the cheeks, you make 3 arcs (thing happy face smiles!) starting from the bottom of your face to the top of your cheeks. For your forehead, you just sweep the moisturizer in an upwards motion (like a fanning motion). If needed, dab a teeny bit on your nose (well she didn't mention this, but I find if you don't moisturize, it will only make your skin produce more oil later!!!).
When using eye cream, only use a SMALL amount (half the size of a pea or less!) and don't put it directly under your eye. What you actually want to do is outline the area around your eye following the bone (like an oval shape) around the eye. If you put it directly on there, your eyes will just be more puffy! Again, this one was from the HydrAction line.
HydrAction's Hydramask on your lips is wonderful for keeping your lips soft! It's so weird, but so true!! Just dab and rub some of the mask into your lips and they'll be super soft~!! You don't only have to use the Hydramask, it works with any hydrating mask (I tried it out with my Biotherm mask when I got home! MAKE SURE IT'S A HYDRATING MASK AND NOT A CLAY MASK OR ANYTHING). Of course, this isn't a replacement for your lip balm, but it's a nice treatment! I like putting the mask on my lips and then shoving lip balm on my lips for ultimate hydration; it works like a dream and makes my lips ultra smooth for lipgloss/lipstick application.

Now, I'm not a big fan of Dior's skincare since most things have SPF in it (which I am allergic to), but that mask tip was absolutely AMAZING. I wanted to buy it, but they sold out!! Brenda was lucky enough to snag the last tube of it! I'll be heading back to get it later though, I need a new mask anyways =P I ended up just buying the Cleansing Gelee because it was wonderful for removing make up! No water is needed for this one, all you have to do is rub it on in a circular motion and take it off with a cotton pad! Wonderful~

Make Up:

Less is more. Use only one pump of foundation (or a dime size amount) on the ENTIRE face and apply sparingly! If you apply it sheerly, you can go back and apply more in the areas you need a bit more help (ie. blemish spots, etc.) and also put concealer on areas that need EXTRA help (it helps because you end up using less concealer too!!). Apply starting on the left cheek with a foundation brush or sponge and blend outwards and repeat with other parts of the face. After, do the same with the other side but pause to admire the amazing difference foundation makes~! I ended up using Airflash spray on foundation in shade 200. With this one, I had Brenda spray a bit on my face and then I sprayed some on the back of my hand and went back to apply to any places I needed.
The perfect place to apply blush is 2 fingers away from your nose and 2 fingers away under your lower lash line. Apply in minimality, and anything extra can be used on the outer corners of your eyes to give them a bit of a nice glow. Cream blush is awesome for this, but powder works just as well too!! We used the Pro Cheeks blush in 545.
Tightlining your eyes can give your eyes more depth and make your lashes look like they are going for miles~! Don't know how to tightline? All you do is take a black pencil eye liner and line the part right under your upper lash line! It's the part right between your lashes and your eyeball! This one might take some practice and, yes, you will most likely tear from doing this, but with lots of practice it will be easy and gives your eyes a wonderful look! Make sure to use a waterproof forumla as well! We used the Waterproof Crayon Liner in Black.
Iconic is great as a base for your mascara. Since the Iconic is meant for curl and separation, it makes a great base to put on another mascara of choice! I used Blackout on top of the iconic and it looked awesome~! It's great for people who want to add more drama to their lashes.

Basically, the main idea is LESS IS MORE! This is the for simple, glowing, everyday look. Of course you can go more dramatic if you wish =]

Hello darlings!

How has your week been as of current? Mine is more or less okay I suppose... anyways Christina has told you about the makeup workshop we went too, it was fun and interesting. Sadly though, I only really learned one or two things. Hmm I have long since turned my head from Dior makeup, mainly because of the price (I get products just as good if not better for less at MAC) but it they still do carry very nice high quality products. So I don't really have much to add onto Christina's post.

Tips from my previous addiction to Dior:
They're pretty basic but I first started makeup about a year and a half ago with Dior when a friend dragged me to a workshop and the MUA was the sweetest thing ever so I just stuck with it until I began getting into MAC about last winter. Off the top of my head this is all I can remember...

- When using Dior pencil liners or any eyeliners with wax in it go over it with a bit of black eyeshadow, this helps the eyeliner stay a bit longer because the when the wax melts it doesn't get all over your crease from blinking.

- Highlight the face and give the face a lift by using a highlighter colour from right above the apples of your cheeks to your forehead creating a C around your eye (C as in Christian Dior)

- If you're going to use your fingers, use your ring finger because it applies the least pressure (It's the weakest finger)

- If you're going to use Diorshow mascaras, layer them, they work better.

-Powder underneath the eye helps catch eyeshadow fallout and prevents mascara from smudging

- Make friends with your MA's you get little insider tips, heads-ups, and gifts.

That's all I have to share for today, I have some readings and and essay due Friday so I'm not quite sure if I'll get a post down by tomorrow but I want to start posting more often soon. I was going to do a Halloween FOTD but somehow I doubt that's going to happen.

RED RED RED!

Red is a classic colour, one that will always be the showstopper. Some of us will spend countless hours at the makeup counters looking for that perfect red lip colour, now I have many reds and the "perfect" red has yet to be found (well actually I have found it in the YSL heart necklace from last years holiday collection but it's in a palette and I want that colour by the tubes, TUBES I SAY!) but I'm getting closer, I can feeellll it.

I really REALLY need a new camera none of these look like they do in real life. Here are a few reds from different brands, I compared 15 red lip colours on my hand from high end to MAC because I don't believe in drugstore brands. For the high ends there was usually a dupe that was almost exact, goes to show you that high price doesn't always mean better.

Chanel Shanghai Red $30.00 CAD - My suggestion is to get MAC's Dubonet ($16.50 CAD), which is a SLIGHT bit more red but honestly it is only noticeable if you're picking it apart like I am. This is one of Chanel's best selling colours just like Dubonet is one of MAC's best selling amplified cremes... I think there is a connection! Another colour from Chanel that is really similar to this one is Lotus Rouge which is a bit darker and more dramatic if that's what you prefer. MAC's So Scarlet($16.50 CAD) and Rapturous mattene ($17.50 CAD) from the Cult of Cherry collection are also quite similar however they were limited (I believe Rapturous is still available on the MAC website)

Estee Lauder in Rich Red $32.00 CAD - More expensive then Chanel? Yes it's ridiculous to me but it is the first red lipstick I ever bought and it is a decent colour. This one is a bit more orange then all my other lipsticks, which I am not a fan of since I tend to go for blue based but overall it's a decent colour. Worth the $32.00 CAD however? No... not really.

Dior Addict High Shine in Runway Red $31.00 CAD - I don't consider this a red, just like I don't consider MAC's Adore it a red (In the new Adoring Carmine Red Lips set $42.00 CAD). So sheer it's a sheer pink. They're pretty much the same except the Dior packaging makes me feel like going around pulling out the lipstick pretending it's a light saber.

MAC in Russian Red $16.50 CAD - If you love Russian Red, I suggest checking "Red" she said out from MAC's holiday collection, to me when on the lips ("Red" she said is a little more pink when swatched and a slight bit darker) it is basically the same colour. However, I hate wearing mattes because by 3 pm I feel like my lips are so dry they're going to fall off but "Red" she said is an amplified *YAY* so it's a much more hydrating lipstick. Go check that lipstick out....STAT!

Dior Creme de Gloss in Rouge nectar $31.00 CAD - Shines like a gloss, looks like melted lipstick, and is hydrating! I love this colour it is the closest one to my YSL palette red and is just gorgeous, if you're not used to wearing lipsticks and prefer glosses I definitely suggest this because it's an amazing dramatic colour with all the benefits of a gloss! The price is a bit steep though so another option would probably be MAC Russian Red lipglass ($16.50 CAD) with a but of Desire Lipglass ($16.50 CAD).

MAC in New York Apple ($16.50 CAD) This is too pink for me to call a red (IMO) so I was very disappointed because I heard it was a good dupe of Queen's sin from last years MAC holiday which I missed *Cries* personally it is almost an exact dupe of Adore it from the red lip set this holiday. Nothing more about this colour, it's just not a red red that's all.

Dior addict gloss in red stockings ($31.00 CAD) - Sort of looks like Russian red($16.50 CAD) or Cult of Cherry(No longer available) lipglasses by MAC, it's a nice sheer hot pink when it fades though but personally I prefer lipglasses. Dior is nice but it doesn't have staying power...at all.

MAC viva glam 1 ($16.50 CAD) - Pretty classic matte red for a good cause, what more could a girl want?! If you're in a fork in the road in your red search and haven't tried this one and Russian red you should definitely take a peek =)

Birthday FOTD!

Yay! It's the first face of the day! Okay so I'm really sorry about me not posting and the lack of posts in general these pasts few weeks have been brutal but like it says in the profile we're busy people with assignments and tests up to our noses! So here is my really easy but dramatic birthday FOTD, that's right, my birthday.

(I used flash since in my room it is impossible not to so you can't see the blush and all the colours have been lightened...including my face.)

Eyes: Urban Decay Primer potion, Dior Earth Tones Palette LE *, MAC powerpoint E/L in Engraved, Lancome Cils XL booster, Diorshow Iconic
Face: MAC Pinch me blush (Though you can't see it >=( !)
Lips: MAC prep+prime lips, Benefit D'liner D'finer, Chanel Fantastic Plum L/S*

Possible substitutions for this look:
* Dior Earth Tones Palette = MAC colour forms palette LE, L'Oreal Wear Infinite E/S Quad in Landscape, MAC Humid E/S, MAC Artifact P/P, MAC Bamboo E/S
*Chanel Fantastic Plum L/S= MAC New York Apple L/S, MAC Plumful L/S, MAC Kirsh Mattene LE

Finish foundation, concealer, and setting powder and use brow gel to set the brows. Use UDPP on the lid and lightly on the brow bone, use dark khaki colour on lid using MAC 239 then apply dark rusty red colour on and slightly above crease using the same brush. Using MAC 252 apply highlight colour above crease and to brow bone, then use MAC 217 to blend DOWNWARDS from the highlight colour to the red then blend UPWARDS from the khaki colour to the red. Apply black pencil eyeliner on upper lid, mascara base, mascara, and blush (Apply kohl eyepencil to waterline if desired). Apply MAC prep + prime lips, line lips with lip liner, apply lipstick, put on a pair of smokin' stiletto's and look fabulous.

Now this isn't it because I know there are a few other things (Such as my MAC Manish eye palette) The boy says I'm like a child >_> but hey, I love makeup! The ones on the top are from my mom and dad, left hand side is from my hunny (Which we've seen), and right hand side is from Christina (<3).

My present to myself will be the Guerlain Midnight Butterfly Sublime Radiance Powder if someone else doesn't get it for me (Mainly the person I'm shopping with Saturday).

Gel Liners vs. Cream Liners

Hello everyone!

Long time no post for me! I apologize.. Last week few weeks I have a whole bunch of quizzes/midterms and still have a whole bunch to do -_-;; So very stressful...
Anyways, I thought I would do a quick post on some gel & cream liners~ (woo.. so many eye liner topics!! I will remind myself to switch it up in the next post!)

Anyways, here is some info on gel & cream liners and their differences. Enjoy~

I've always had problems with liquid and pencil eye liners.. so one day I decided to try gel liners and man... was it amazing!!

I will be reviewing liners from 4 different brands (2 gel, 2 cream; excuse me if any prices are wrong! My memory of them has left me...).

All colors are black =) I needed to keep it consistent!

The blacks look a bit shiny.. but I think that was due to the lights! Sorry about that guys, my room isn't the best place in the world to make pictures >_<~

THESE ARE NOT MEANT TO BE ON THE WATER LINE! They do not stay very well on there, and MAC specifically states that it is not safe used on the waterline (and I'd imagine others aren't either)!!!
So, both these liners are mean to be very intensely colored and are more dense than liquid liners. Also, they are supposed to have better saying power than that of liquid & pencil. For people who have problems with either of those 2 liners, I'd recommend giving these a try. They usually come in a pot which means these liners are meant to be used with an eye liner brush. I'll give some recommendations & tell you the different types of liner brushes.
Gel Liner: Gel-based eye liner. Creates a nice, clean line. Can be smudged for a smokey look but IMO, it doesn't work too well for smudging and smoking out for a smokey eye look.
Cream Liner: Cream-based eye liner. These ones are meant to be smudged for the smokey eye look. They are really creamy and go on a bit better than gel liners, but they are more prone to smudge under my eye and make me look like a raccoon!!

Gel Liners!
Bobbi Brown Long Wear Gel Liner - 1 Black Ink: The famous gel liner! Bobbi Brown is famous for this and I must say, this is wonderful stuff!! It's a bit more pricey, but the staying power and color are wonderful!! It doesn't give me raccoon eyes and it really is a true, rich black (instead of a dark gray, which I find to be a common outcome with a lot of black liners..). I get a perfect line every time with this stuff :) It is certainly one of my HG's. I haven't been able to use liquid or pencil liners very often after I tried this stuff. I own this in Mahogany Ink (Deep Brown) and, of course, Black Ink. I love them both~! The formula is a bit thicker/harder than other gel liners, but you still only need a teeny bit to create one full line! I think Black Ink is pretty intense, so I tend to wear the Mahogany Ink for more of an everyday look. You can find these at Holt Renfrew in Canada. I'd recommend this for people with oily lids and have trouble with eye liner smudging under their eyes!!

There are a mlots for this liner but yet nothing that screams "different"! If you want something with color variety that is more bold/striking, this isn't the best choice. They have the standard black, many, many shades of brown and a few different colors (Violet, Indigo, Ivy Shimmer).

MAC Fluidline - Blacktrack: This is also a famous product from MAC. It is said to rival that of Bobbi Brown but IMO Bobbi Brown prevails! This texture of this is much smoother than Bobbi Brown's but, unfortunately, it smudges on me like crazy!!! It gives a smooth, rich black line that looks wonderful and perfect.. but after a few hours, I looked like a giant raccoon!! If I use primer, it's a BIT better but still smudges a bit..
Price: $18 CAD
Staying Power: 3.5
Color Intensity(Black): 5
Color Variety: 4
Lots of bold colors for this one! I absolutely loveeeeeeee Blue Peep~ it's so different, but I guess they don't sell it anymore??!! (It's not on the website!!!) Best make a trip down to a MAC counter or freestanding store to ask about it.. Honestly, it's such a wonderful color!! Macroviolet is also a really beautiful deep purple that I'd recommend.

Cream Liners!
Clinique - 02 True Black: This one comes with it's own brush!!! It's a tiny little brush that is really adorable, unfornately I didn't have a use for it since I love my MAC 263 brush. If you were looking for a one that is a reasonable price and also eliminates the factor of finding a brush, this is definitely worth a try! It really is a "true" black. It's very intense and the consistensy of this is amazingly smooth. Unfortunately, this one smudged on me too :( You get about the same results as the MAC fluidline~ I only own the True Black as of now..
Price: $16 CAD
Staying Power: 3.5
Color Intensity(Black): 5
Color Variety: 2
There's only 4 colors for this one.. True Black, Deep Brown, Smoke Grey, and Black Honey (a deep brown with a hint of reddish undertone). I'd recommend the Black Honey for anyone with a warm complexion, it looks beautiful~

Smashbox Cream Eye Liner - Caviar: This was my least favourite of all.. you need to get on A LOT of product for this to come out a true black.. in the picture, it took me two layers to get it to match the black of the other three liners and yet it STILL wasn't as black as the others! It smudges really easily.. but it's not completely horrible. I own the palette of cream liners because I wanted to give all the colors a try and, man, was this a horrible purchase. Of all 10 colors, I only really like 2 of them.... I would never recommend this one unless they were looking for a color other than black.

Color Intensity(Black): 3
Color Variety: 4
This one has a WIDE variety of shades, but nothing is too intense. Lots of colours but they are all pretty subdued. Picasso(Midnight Blue), Midnight Purple, and Midnight Green really disappointed me... I was hoping for more color in them but was left unsatisfied. The Picaso (even with 2 layers!) still didn't strong and same with the Midnight Purple! Maybe if you shined an extremely bright light on them, I don't think you would even see the colours. Midnight green looked like a weird dark green-gray that looked almost black.. so disappointing -___-;
Here is a picture of the other colors in the Cream Eye Liner Palette (my favourites are Lava(Shimmery silver; great for smokey eyed looks) and Deep Bronze (beautiful shimmery bronze)):

Now... You're probaby wondering what kind of brush to use with these! You have a very good selection. I'll be using MAC & Bobbi Brown brushes as examples (but of course they aren't the only ones that have these kinds of brushes! Look around! You can find many such as Sephora, Quo (in Canada), Urban Decay, Benefit, etc. (Images taken from MAC & Bobbi Brown websites)

MAC 266
1) Angeled Eye liner Brush: My favourite of all to apply eyeliner! It is absolutely one of the easiest brushes to use! I recommend this one to beginners because it's so fool-proof and accurate! What you would be looking for a brush with stiff, short, angled top. My favourite is the 263 brush from MAC! It always gives me a perfect line and I can really get in between the little spaces in my lashes for a perfectly lined look. Another great one is MAC's 266 brush (which is slightly bigger than the 263).

MAC 209
2) Standard Eye liner Brush: Basically this brush looks like the brushes that are included in your bottle of liquid liner. If you are used to those, this one would be an easy one to switch into! It's also very easy to use even for beginners and would be my next recommendation next to the angled liner brush. I own the MAC 209 and use it regularly with gel/cream liners and also cake liners wet (which I only have one... haha). They usually come a bit thicker (MAC 209) and also very thin for ultimate precision (MAC 210).

MAC 212
3) Flat Definer Brush: This one is definitely my least favourite.. I wouldn't recommend these to beginners. Basically how you use these is to "push" the liner on. I've never found myself getting a good line with this. It's only good for shoving on some liner and smudging when doing a smokey eye.. otherwise I wouldn't use it. I own the MAC 212 and it's rarely use it...

Bobbi Brown Eye Liner Brush
4) Rounded Eye liner brush: The famous gel liner also comes with the famous liner brush. This one comes in the regular side and an ultra fine version for ultimate precision. This one is also extremely easy to use! They're about on the same level of easiness as the angled liner brush. I would also recommend this! Unfortunately, I still prefer my angled one since I find it a lot easier to do a wing with the angle.. This one is still a GREAT brush though! I have the Ultra Fine Eye Liner Brush from Quo and it works awesome (I'd still like to grab the Bobbi Brown Ultra Fine Eye Liner Brush one day.. Yumm~ I love BB). I don't use it as often but it is a wonderful, fool-proof brush as well :)

Well~ That's all I have to say for today!! I hope some people will try out some of these Gel/Cream liners because they are very awesome and easy to use~

Now any good make-up addict should have a brush set, why? Don't ask, never question the brush set. Not only do they tug less on your skin then your fingers but they also help create amazing looks and who doesn't love looking amazing? But if you don't already own a brush set, or are in need of a new set then this holiday is the best time to start buying m'dears! It seems as though a lot of brands are making adorable brush sets this holiday! So here are just a few brush sets from different brands to help you decide.

The Makeup Artist Brush Belt
Now who doesn't love pulling a brush from a belt and feeling like a total super hero ready to make someone feel totally smokin' (Or even themselves!) ? I know I'd love that feeling, sadly the price is a little heavy for me at the moment (Darn the economy) and I lack a credit card (For good reason!). There is one without brushes in there for cheaper so if you have the brushes already then the belt would be nice to keep everything in order. However Sephora brand brushes are pretty good quality and this would be a sweet investment, total must have for a make-up artist wanna-be like me. Hey that rhymed!

Though I can't find the link for this particular item it will probably be available at Nordstrom, The Bay, and Holt Renfrew. Most likely Holt Renfrew for us Canadians, eh. Dior normally has a brush set I believe, full sized too however it's a hundred something for like four brushes if I remember correctly. If luxury is your thang however this is totally the set for you. I personally like Dior brushes they are really good quality, but the fact that it's real mink fur just makes me uncomfortable using it.

Personally I'm not a fan of these, mainly because they look like MAC sets, except MAC looks nicer and are cheaper. Lancome brushes aren't my favorite but it looks as though they stepped up their game for these brushes, however it could just be photoshop.

Like last years Heirlooms and earlier this years Color forums MAC has come out with another brush set (As if we didn't see it coming). I love these brush sets, cute packaging and in my favorite colour! Sadly I bought all the sets last year and buying this one would be a little, well useless. This would be a nice little gift for anyone you know who is just getting into makeup, or perhaps you want a nice little set to travel with, maybe this will even be your main brush set but whatever the reason these sets are definitely a steal!

New Release: Red She Said Preview!

So anyone that wasn't planning to get any of the compacts this year because the packaging didn't meet their expectations, you might want to re-consider. I really wasn't planning to get the lip compact, but after seeing it, I just couldn't help myself! I bought the Viva Glam cool lips palette, I might get the warm as well though I don't like how both viva glams have the same colour while all the rest of the palettes are different. I got my Adoring Carmine sets (Thank you hunny <3!). This is it for me for now though I'm just going to wait for Little Darlings and get a few lipglasses, maybe some from the regular collection coming out with this one (I'm trying to restrain myself from buying another lip compact).

One thing I didn't like about the compact is that the design this year is a little off. Unlike last year where the brush stays in it's little compartment, in this one the brush can move around, which I think will be a bit of an issue in the future. I didn't get the lip sets last year(Which I highly regret) so I'm not sure if I'm the only one that didn't know the lipglasses would be minis. Otherwise I love this collection, my boyfriend told me that I was like a little kid opening a birthday present, which well I sort of was =P... two weeks early.

Swatches aren't great but give a rough idea, on the right hand side is rose and on the left is red. My camera is crap so it doesn't do justice to colours which I apologize for but trust me, these colours are FAB!

Anyways I have to go clean up and ready to go out of province tomorrow, what are your plans this (Canadian) Thanksgiving? Or the upcoming (United States) Thanksgiving in about a month?

I'm actually quite disappointed this year (Though it may be a good thing for the ol'wallet), Dior failed to meet my expectations considering the jeweled pressed powder is totally not worth the $$$ I was expecting a pretty jewel to splurge on as always but that's not the case. Lancome is just....no for me, Chanel is pretty much just gold again, Bobbi brown is always neutral, Ysl is just ...meh, and I have no idea for estee lauder yet but I don't have very high hopes . This fall was a total blast for makeup though, gorgeous colours and palettes I'm still trying to recover from that!

So far it's only Guerlain, And MAC.
Everything else is permanent stuff, isn't that sad?

Pencil eyeliner: The must-have of every makeup addict

I am always on the look-out for good eyeliners so I have accumulated a few and thrown away a few. So I decided hey why not do a review since I have a few free hours on my hands at the moment.

Estee Lauder automatic eye pencil duo in black:
This is possibly one of the worst eyeliners I have ever tried (Remember these are IMO) because not only does it smudge and get all over my crease and everything it just doesn't stay. I find myself having to layer eyeshadow over it just so it will stay but considering it still transfers on my crease and I don't know why I still bother using it but my mom bought it for me so... damn... just not a good product in general. However it does come with a replacement top instead of throwing the whole pen away once you're done but I'd still rather a recycling program. Plastic.

Rimmel Extreme definition eye pencil duo in black and white:
Meh for a drugstore product I wasn't expecting much, not good for waterline I'll tell you that but it doesn't smudge anywhere near the extent of Estee Lauder so I'm okay with it. Staying power is okay for the price and I guess you get two colours so it's cool. Not a repeat buy for me though. Wood, plastic caps.

The Body Shop eye definer shade white:
This one is just too hard to be a regular eyeliner and even when you do use it for there it doesn't stay long but not enough colour payoff or staying power for the waterline, it's quite sad for me actually...At least it doesn't smudge? Wood, metal lid.

Sadly another Dior product that failed me, this just doesn't have staying power which surprised me considering it's 'waterproof' it doesn't smudge much (If any) but still not worth the money. Damn it Dior stop ripping me off for these eyeliners, I trusted you, I really did. Wood, metal bits.

Lancome le stylo waterproof in prune:
This is an okay eyeliner, I believe I paid $27 for it just so I could get a gift at Holt Renfrew. Hard and tugs on the skin a bit but it's decent, lasting power is okay, doesn't smudge unless you really try to, howeverrrrrr whoever designed this product must not have been the brightest considering if you twist up a bit too much product it doesn't go back down. Plastic.

MAC eye Kohl in Fascinating:
This died after I took a nap at the school, lasted about 5 hours on the waterline (Sort of, at least it was visible to an extent). Smooth application, soft, nice product though doesn't last too long against touching but at least it comes off with grace and isn't everywhere. Wood, plastic cap, no recycling program for this one.

Overall I'm fairly okay with MAC and Lancome, MAC more so for the price of what you're getting. For the waterline however I'm still on the look-out, I believe I will be trying Power Kohl from MAC (In Feline) a little later considering it is still available at one of The Bays I went to, perhaps Urban Decays 24/7 eyeliner as well (In Yeyo). Anyways how is everyone today, sorry I missed yesterday after that Spanish exam I just wanted to crawl into a hole and die but I'm back today.

Looks like I'll be skipping the eyeshadow and lip compacts, I liked last years collection the compact was more appealing to the inner 15th century Elizabethan inside of me. However since I was planning to buy the Viva Glam lipsticks anyways, the palette might be better though I haven't decided yet. The brush sets are gorgeous but sadly I bought them all last year so I think I'll resist the temptation and be a good girl for once. The lip sets? WHOAA nelly, no way these are escaping my grasp this year especially the red set (I missed Queens Sin and Port Red *SOBS*) though I think the neutrals scream "PASS" to me.

I'll be posting a few more releases a little later on, perhaps tomorrow but for now I have a paper to finish and I've already taken enough breaks for me not to sleep tonight =(.

Damn it she beat me to it, I was just going to make this post today too! Anyways I'm continuing on this because it's a really important subject to me,though not many people know this (I like to keep personal stuff under wraps but since this is breast cancer awareness month hey why the hell not) about two years ago I noticed that there was spot traces of blood on my bra and didn't think much about it but when my parents found out they brought me to the doctors immediately. I went through numerous tests where sometimes they thought they saw a small lump and sometimes when they didn't find anything but to process scared the hell out of me.

They told me that there was a slight chance that I may have breast cancer but they don't believe I did so they'd keep checking, in the end they told me that they really couldn't find that lump they had in the first x-ray anymore so it was probably a mistake, and since the blood had gone away (though every now and then it comes back) I shouldn't have to worry. But even today I have to go for check-ups every 6 months, come to think of it I should be having one next week but just because of this experience I realized how horrible it would be if I was actually diagnosed with breast cancer, but every 3 mins someone is diagnosed which scares me and every 13 mins someone dies because of it, every time I walk into the clinic I'm completely terrified but hey that's the way life is.

In our lifetimes we will know at least one person who is affected by breast cancer, which is why it's always important to get regular mammograms and do regular self checks. Diorshow: Living up to the hype?

Hello everyone!

Today, I'll be doing my first review! I am going to be rating the performance of the famous "Diorshow" mascaras.
I'm sure that I'm not the only one who has heard of all the raves about Diorshow mascaras.
Well, I was certainly drawn into the hype (especially with my addiction to mascaras...)!
Now I am able to say that I've tried almost ALL the Diorshows (Regular Diorshow, Blackout, Unlimited and Iconic) except for the waterproof ones. So, here's my take on the cult favourite, Diorshow.

(I'm not entirely sure of all the prices, so please forgive me if there's an error! Also, I don't actually have a picture of them on hand so I'll be using the pictures from the Sephora website.)

1 = Horrible
5 = Wonderful

1) Regular Diorshow

Price: $31 CAD
This is the one that started it all. Diorshow promises dramatic volume, length and curling (more emphasis on the volume though). Honestly, I hate this mascara with a passion. I was gave it a try after hearing such amazing things about it but it disappointed me greatly! Now, I am one of those girls who loves to keep the curl in my lashes, so I'll ALWAYS curl them before applying any mascara. This mascara deflated my curl instantly, also it flaked like crazy!!! Talk about horrible! My eyes were so irritated the whole day (and it started to flake only a few minutes after I applied it). I really, really hated the brush too. Basically it's a giant brush that is said to grab every single lash; all it did for me was coat my lashes in this flakey mess and also make it hard to use because I have "barely there" lashes.
Ratings:
Smudging: 3
It wasn't horrible, but it wasn't good either! There was minimal smudging; you could barely see it! Easily fixed with a quick swipe of a Q-Tip.
Curl: 1
As I said already, deflated my lashes instantly (INSTANT FAIL!).
Volume: 3.5
It wasn't as dramatic as they make it seem. The volume wasn't like "WOW" but it was definitely there.
Length: 2
Barely any length, but understandable since this mascara is rooted more towards volumizing.
Price: 1
Very expensive for a bunch of nothing.
Overall: 2.5
If I could get past the flaking of this mascara, it isn't a complete waste. I HAVE seen people use it and have beautiful lashes. I'd mostly recommend this mascara ONLY if you naturally have long, semi-curled lashes otherwise, I'd stay away from this! I will not be repurchasing!

2) Diorshow Unlimited

Price: $31 CAD
This one was a lot better than the regular Diorshow. Unlimited is said to give extreme length & curl. Somehow, this one didn't flake like crazy, but did flake a bit. The brush on this one is much more managable than the others and I was quite happy with this one.
Ratings:
Smudging: 3
Same as the regular Diorshow, smudging was minimal.
Curl: 3
Much better than Diorshow. This one actually held my curl up pretty well. Sometimes it would deflate it just a tiny bit, but it was pretty good with holding the curl up.
Volume: 1
If you are looking for a volumizing mascara, don't get this. This is purely for length.
Length: 2.5
Somewhat disappointing... Unlimited was alright with length, but it wasn't as extreme as I hoped it would be.
Price: 2
I think this one was more worth it then the regular Diorshow, therefore it was much more worth the price.
Overall: 3
So it wasn't horrible, but it wasn't bad; it was just in the middle. This one is pretty good but (I repeat!) people who want length probably won't like this. It was nice, but I don't think I'd purchase this again.

3) Diorshow Blackout

Price: $31 CAD
For this one, they use kohl powder to make this the blackest of black. I liked this one quite a bit~
Ratings:
Smudging: 3
Same as above two.
Curl: 2.5
Curled waaay better than Diorshow, but not as well as unlimited. It wasn't bad with holding the curl up though.
Volume: 3
It really is blackest of black and I think it seems to help with the look of lush volume. It's volume was much better than that of Diorshow.
Length: 2
Not much length, but (again) this mascara is rooted more toward volume.
Price: 2.5
I think this one is more worth it to purchase than the Diorshow & Unlimited.
Overall: This is one is one of my favourite ones. It did much better than the others, but I still won't be repurchasing.

4) Diorshow Iconic

Price: $34 CAD
Iconic is the newest addition to the Diorshow family. This mascara claims to lengthen, lift & separate. Also, this one is supposed to be smudge-proof. Now, this one is a bit different from the others because it uses plastic bristles. The brush is quite big, but managable. I prefer this brush over the others.
Ratings:
Smudging: 4.5
I must say, it really is. There are rare times where this stuff will smudge a tiny, tiny bit, but that's all! All in all, very minimal smudging (I like!).
Curl: 4
This one actually holds my curl. The only problem with this is that if there is too much product on the brush, your curl WILL fall, so wipe off as much excess as you can!
Volume: 2
Barely any volume in this one, but that's ok with me!
Length: 3.5
More length than the Unlimited! It was pretty good with length; it wasn't extreme but more of a "I have naturally long lashes" look.

It is more expensive than that of it's sisters in the Diorshow line, but I think it's really much more worth it than any of the others.

This is a pretty good mascara! It gives me a look of natural definition. This is definitely what I would use as an "everyday" mascara. So far, this (and Blackout) are the ONLY ones that I haven't thrown out due to hate!

Overall, my favourite Diorshow has to be the Iconic. Separation, definition and curling? I'm sold! It didn't do much for volume, but it's wonderful if you that look natural but beautifully defined.
Now, for these mascaras I'd probably recommend anyone who already has pretty, long and curled natural eyelashes to try this out, otherwise I wouldn't really recommend these to anyone.

Liquid liners: The caligraphy tool of makeup

Okay ladies, like Christina I have a crazy obsession but it's not over mascaras, no mine is liquid eyeliners. I love the dramatic look I get from these but I have to admit I have yet to find one that meets my expectations.

Here is a review of 3 liquid eyeliners I have tried recently.

Lancome Artliner in Noir
Diorliner 098
The Body Shop 01

Lancome Artliner: Of the three I tried this one was sadly the worst (Sorry Christina I know you love this one) but I put it through a little test as soon as I got it. Sadly it didn't last and just flaked off, compared to the rest it did not last long at all, not to mention for $36.00 CAD I was expecting so much from it. Only thing that interested me mildly was the thin felt tip applicator, but what I question is why the applicator has to be so darn long?! Wonder if I can return it...
(Note: Me and Christina conducted a test today and Artliner DOES work on her and does not move the slightest, however on me it just didn't stay so remember products are different depending on the person!)

Diorliner: Oh god, it seems as though these big label brands are not the best to turn to for liquids but this one also failed me. Though the lasting power was better then the Lancome Artliner and it dried much faster, it smudged like crazy! Don't even think about touching your eyes before it's set or you'll just end up doing your makeup all over again. The brush is good but requires accuracy but also in the $30's CAD, in the end is it worth it? No.

The Body Shop: Now this surprised me, out of the three I tested this one lasted the longest with minimal smudging and flaking. I'm not normally a fan of The Body Shop but I must admit, at least it stayed on! And it is much cheaper then Lancome for sure for $20 something CAD it comes with TWICE the amount provided in Artliner. This shall be my go to liquid eyeliner for the time being since it has a sharpie like applicator which is totally sweet for me however my Bobbi Brown gel liner still reigns supreme.

Considering I am not home at the moment I may or may not take pictures later on tonight but since Christina posted her skincare line I figured, why not? I need a nice 'little' break from procrastinating anyways.

And this is how I prep my skin for everyday life and photos cause you never know!

Mornings
Ah yes glorious mornings where I wake up at 6 am to ready myself for another day of lectures. In the mornings I tend to take a shower first thing, I like to start my day clean as a whistle.

Dior Hydraction Rich Creme (Aut/Win)
Dior Hydraction Sorbet Creme (Spr/Sum)
A product I neither love, nor hate is it merely there. It keeps my skin hydrated (Though sometimes oily) and does not really do anything like cause breakouts (I have hormonal breakouts=( I know it's not from this) but like I said, I don't really love it, don't really hate it. One creme I love but can not afford is Lancome Secret de Vie, a luxurious amazing eye and face creme regimen that would cost almost $400 CAD every 6 months or so. It really makes my skin soft as a baby's behind.

Shiseido Ultimate Sun Protection Face and Body Lotion SPF 50
This is my never leave the house without some on product, I HATE getting tanned! Sunscreen is so important I totally don't want skin cancer! I can not stress the importance of sunscreen enough, and this particular sunscreen (I think it's available as 55 in the US but it's only in 50 in Canada =( boo...) makes my skin feel soft not sticky! Shiseido also does not contain any pore clogging ingredients however it is a bit pricey for a bottle of one of these babies.

Diorskin Icone Photo Perfect Creme To Powder Makeup in Transparent
I use this as a primer before foundation it causes a really soft feel on the face and even alone makes any pictures look a Heeellllz of a lot better. It is spf25 ( Yes more spf) and evens out the skin tone, pricey as to be expected from Dior for such a small little thing, but a little goes a long way.

After that it's foundation (If any) Concealer and...

Makeup Forever Microfinish Powder
This product, is god sent. My skin is matte throughout the day and looks flawless, unlike the Anna Sui ones I've tried it does not change the color of my face (Or make it look like I decided to dive into a pool of sparkles) definitely worth a try! If memory serves me correctly they're about $31 CAD?

After that it's makeup and go.

Night
It's the most wonderful time of the dayyyyyy *whistle*
The night time is the only time many of us finally get our 'me' time and it's glorious, abso-freaking-lutely glorious.

Dior Gel de Lait Magique Cleansing gelee For Face, Lips and Eyes
When I'm wearing makeup I like removing it before I actually start cleansing my face, it helps my face get CLEAN. Here's a test for all of you that clean your face and don't use makeup remover before or after, clean your face and then use some makeup remover and just go over your face, if it's clean then good job, if it's not you might want to consider using makeup remover before hand. This isn't the best but it isn't bad (Though it irritates my eyes at times), so it will stay until it's gone and then I shall try Lancome Bi-Facil.

Neutrogena The Wave
Now I'm not one to give into advertising easily but damn, this really does do what it says! On the site I believe it says that most users felt their skin was softer and cleaner after the first use, and boy did it! Though it works great avoid your eyes (Ye have been warned!) however, each pad is only a one time use (15 pads come with and refills have 30 pads and a new attachment head) and I hate that because of all the waste it causes! Not very environmentally friendly so I might just have to find an alternative =(. (p.s Clean and Clear has blackhead controlling pads that fit PERFECTLY onto this.)

The Body Shop Moisture White Toning Essence
When I first bought this product I was pretty much yelling 'Sweet vitamin C and whitening totally rad dudes!' only later to discover there is alcohol denat in it =/ it hasn't done anything to my skin yet however I probably won't be buying it again because of the alcohol denat. I love you body shop, but why? WHY?*Bursts into tears* I will most likely be trying their vitamin E, Aloe, or Seaweed toner instead.

Dior-Capture R60/80 First wrinkles Smoothing Cream
Now I don't have any wrinkles yet (Though with the way things are going I wouldn't be surprised if I'll be getting some soon) But I got this as a sample, a full sized sample. Yes, I said full sized, how? Well I shall tell you after my whole regimen (And no I didn't steal it!). But this is okay, I'm definitely not going to BUY it if anything I'd go with hydraction but yeah it was free might as well use it up first.

After this depending if I have any acne or anything I put on acne medication, tweeze the eyebrows, and you know that kind of stuff.

Bi-weekly
I say Bi- weekly because I don't do it all the time, it's unnecessary.

Dior Magical Radiance Exfoliating Face Scrub
This particular product feels like scrubbing sand on your face, and that's how I like it. I like my exfoliators to feel like they're doing something and not just look like their doing something because they have a bunch of little orbs in them that barely do anything but actually feel like they're removing dead skin since I have flaky skin at times. If I could I'd use sand but if I clogged the sink Whooooaaa neelly would I be in for it.

Lancome Pure Empreinte Purifying Mineral Mask with White Clay
Christina has told you about this product, nothing more I need to add.

Okay so that is my not-as-extensive-as-Christina's skincare regimen but here it is. Now I said earlier that I had gotten a full sized Dior Eye creme free, well it wasn't 'Free' per sey considering how much I pay for Dior most of the time anyways. So here is the thing, I love Dior and to do this you have to be willing to spend at least once or twice a month and only go to one counter. This way you get to know the MA's and they will notify you when there are events or upcoming releases if you shop enough and depending on the MA they may start giving you random gifts. After a year of going to the Dior counter once a month (But I bought loads while I was there) the MA began giving me gifts every time I went to the counter after that I went once every two weeks to buy one item and sooner or later I only went when I needed something but I still got the gift even when it wasn't gift with purchase! Sadly she is no longer employed at the Dior counter so it's sad but life goes on but I still have my lovely Chanel MA. If anything though I'm over paying so much for makeup, I'll have the occasional splurge yes but it's really not worth it.

Now here is something I want everyone to think about. What to you is beauty? Not what the media tells you, but truly what do you think (And it's not wrong to hold the same beliefs as the media as long as the media did not make you believe them)? I believe that everyone is an individual, so beauty is really in the eyes of the beholder but confidence is one of the most beautiful things a person can have. No one should ever try to change themselves because the world around them says their not beautiful, eventually we should realize that it doesn't matter what they think all that matters is when you look in the mirror you go "Wow, I'm beautiful!". I HATE seeing people being put down because they don't meet the 'beauty standards' of society!

Christina's Daily Skincare Routine

How is everyone today?
I am chin deep in homework T_T Arg!! I also have so many midterms/quizzes/tests coming up in the next few weeks!! GAHHH!! I need a break -___-;
I thought I could start off by showing what I use on a daily basis for my skincare routine.
I do use different products for day & night and am picky about my products..
As you can see, I own nothing that contains an SPF. The reason for that is because I have the (horrible) allergy to sunscreen and any product containing SPF, therefore I will not be able to review any products that contain any sort of sunscreen/SPF.
IF you do not have the same (stupid) allergy as I, I would advise you to use one with it!!
Protect your skin people!!!

I'll start off with a picture of the collection....

Daytime:

Cleanser: Laneige Star Pure Water Foam
I absolutely loooooooooove this stuff!! It is an easy pump dispenser and comes around already foaming for you~ haha my only gripe about this is that it is easy to dispense too much product when only a bit of it should be sufficient. It makes your skin feel ultra smooth after using it and I'm kinda obsessed with keeping my skin pale (I look like a gorilla when I have a tan *cries*) so this helps a bit with "brightening of the skin".

Toner: Lancome Tonique Douceur Alcohol-Free Freshener
Very nice toner. I avoid anything with alcohol since it irritates skin like crazy!! This one seems to work really well with my skin as do most Lancome products.

Serum: Chanel Purete Ideale Serum
I use this before my moisturizer to help with oil control. And, arg, the second ingredient is Alcohol Denat which is really bad for your skin. I bought it even though it had that in it (stupid, I know >_<), so I'm just going to use this until I run out and buy one without skin irritating ingredients. So far though, it hasn't been horrible to my skin.

Moisturizer: Chanel Hydramax + Active Gel Cream
I've found myself to have oily-dehydrated skin. Cream moisturizers were always too heavy and gel moisturizers have always dried my skin out(arg!!). One day, my MA from Chanel gave me a sample of this stuff and, oh man, was I hooked! The tiny, tiny, little sample lasted me about a month(not even joking!), had the perfect texture, and didn't dry out my skin! It's a bit pricey, but when I find something that works, I'm hooked!!

Nighttime:
Cleanser: Chanel Systeme Purete La Mousse
At the end of the day, this is the stuff I rely on to get all the makeup, dirt and oil off my face! It's a wonderful cleanser with little green micro beads in it that make your skin feel clean and soft after you've used it. The only thing is, if you're looking for an exfoliator, this is not for you! It's purely a cleanser as those little micro beads are barely enough to be a good enough exfoliator. Lucky that I am just looking for a nice cleanser for the end of the day!

Toner: Lancome Tonique Douceur Alcohol-Free Freshener
Same as Daytime.

Serum: Chanel Purete Ideale Serum
Same as Daytime.

Moisturizer: The Body Shop Tea Tree Oil Blemish Fade Night Lotion
I've had acne for years now... and this stuff helped out a lot! I'm not sure how well it does for fading those scars, but it definitely helped me out with preventing them! It's a light texture and a little bit of it goes a lot. You do get a tiny bottle but it's worth it (for me at least!).

Exfoliator: Laneige Strawberry Yogurt Peeling Gel
HG Status!!!!!! It is, in my opinion, the BEST exfoliator I've ever used in my life! It has little bit of actually strawberry in it that really get the job done. This stuff is absolutely amazing. Basically, it's a pink, chunky gel-like substance that you use to scrub your face for 1 minute. After washing it off, your skin is baby smooth *love* wonderful =)

Spot Treatment: Fruit of the Earth 100% Aloe Vera Gel
A giant bottle of aloe gel for about $5 at walmart? I'm sold! Honestly, in the early stages of my horrid acne, THIS is what helped me come to what it is today (somewhat controlled!! Yay~). Even now, I still include this in my routine. I use this as a spot treatment for any breakouts that still occasionally pop up and if I ever get a popped pimple, I just dab a bit of this on and put a tissue over it (think like when guys get razor cuts)! It works really well with helping me control those pesky little things =P

Mask: Lancome Pure Empreinte
This is a wonderful mineral mask with white clay. Basically, you slap this on your face and rinse it off in about 5 minutes (it dries really fast). It makes your skin so smooth.. and a little bit goes a very long way! It's helped a lot with my blackheads.. I have a lot less now on my nose (yay)! It's a bit pricey, but oh so good =P haha This is used once a week as well (not on the same day as my exfoliator though!! I don't want to irritate my skin =/).

Anyways, that is all of it! I use a lot of product, don't I? But this is the consistent routine that has made my skin loads better.. so I will continue with it! I've already been trying out this Garnier Nutritioniste anti-puff eye roller. I'm not sure how it's doing so far.. It's only been a week! I probably will come back with a review on that later =P I have many, many reviews to do on tons of makeup products (mascaras, get ready to feel my wrath!), so please look forward to them!

Foundation: Currently I use Dior Hydraction tinted moisturizer in 02 Natural, Diorskin Forever 020 + Airflash 202 + Dior Hydraction creme (I mix and match to get my shades since it varies so often), and Chanel Mat Lumiere 40 Sable, MAC NC30. So in general fair - medium.

Alright so my looks tend to be a little more colourful and dramatic! My favorite makeup brand is mainly MAC; HOWEVER, I am not a crazy MAC addict that only has MAC, I have a few drugstore and luxury brands as well I just don't prefer them as much. You'll notice I tend to use purples, reds, and greens the most...I wonder why eh? hahaha.

Hello there!

Welcome to our makeup blog where two makeup addicts (Brenda & Christina) will be providing reviews on makeup and various other beauty products.
Our goal is to help people pick and choose products that are worth buying by testing out products on ourselves (or as I say, "taking out for a test drive") and giving our opinion on the product's performance! BUT, not everyone is the same and products work differently for everyone so that doesn't mean our opinion will be the same as everyone else! My name is Christina and I am half of the whole that make up this blog; nice to meet you all! =]
I am a university student currently majoring in East Asian Language Studies (Japanese), but I have a love of makeup, and any kind of beauty products =P Hopefully one day I can go to make up or hair school *crosses fingers* haha!
